Paediatric First Aid (12 hours)
This course aims to satisfy the National Childminding Association (NCMA) and Pre-school Learning Alliance (PLA) guidelines for people who care for children. This course is for people working with children under the age of 8 or working towards an NVQ in Childcare and Education or Nursery workers. This includes all infant school staff, childminders, creche leaders, nannies, au-pairs, parents, teachers and anyone who is responsible for the welfare of babies and young children.

- The priorities of first aid
- Awareness of personal safety
- Assessment and management of an incident
- Management of the unconscious casualty
- Resuscitation (CPR)
- Management of breathing problems in babies and children
- Treatment of wounds and bleeding in babies and children
- Burns, poisons and eye injuries in babies and children
- Assessment and treatment of specific serious injuries and common childhood conditions
- Record keeping and use of equipment
On successful completion of the course the candidate will receive a certificate of attendance.
This is valid for three years.
